Rose Zawid and her husband Jack came to the United States
from Poland in 1949. After living and working in Baltimore and New
York, they spent 10 years working on a chicken farm in New Jersey.
They then went to Atlantic City where they opened a kosher boarding
house and catering business they still run today. Rose and Jack
survived the Holocaust, both losing people close to them, but food
helps them celebrate the family that did survive and enjoy the family
they have today as a reaffirmation of life.
