Online NewsHourBrazil: A Model Response to AIDS?
Details on Brazil's Program
Brazil made headlines when its production of some HIV drugs and efforts to negotiate lower prices for others sparked opposition from the U.S. and the pharmaceutical industry. Despite the controversy, Brazil continues to provide guaranteed HIV treatment for more than 100,000 people. Along with distributing medicine, Brazil has also mounted aggressive campaigns to educate its citizens about HIV.
