A week after the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Southwest China, the death toll climbed past 40,000, with estimates that some 50,000 others could be dead. Rescuers are still sifting through collapsed schools and offices in hopes of finding more survivors, but their rescue missions are becoming recovery operations as time passes.
