| Zahn was brought to the Central Stasi Prison in Berlin in 1953 when he was 25 years old. The "Stasi" was the secret police of East Germany -- a Communist state at the time. Although he endured no physical abuse, Zahn said the prisoners were kept apart and the isolation took a psychological toll. |
