Haiti Digs Out After the Storms FLASH VERSION
In the summer of 2008, Haiti was slammed by four hurricanes and tropical storms, which killed more than 800 people and left 1 million homeless. U.N. Undersecretary-General John Holmes called the onslaught "one of Haiti's biggest catastrophes" while visiting the northern city of Gonaives, where 500 people died in the storm-induced floods.
