U.S. Embassy in Damascus Could Close as Tension Rises

Anti-U.S. protest; AP photoThe U.S. Embassy in Syria may close to the public for security reasons after a deadly raid near the country's border with Iraq caused public outcry against the United States.

Eight people were killed in the attack, which Syria says the U.S. perpetrated against civilians. U.S. officials said on condition of anonymity that the raid killed a top operative of al-Qaida in Iraq.
