Summit Wraps With Pact to Secure Stockpiles

Nuclear security summit in Washington, D.C. Leaders of 47 countries attending the nuclear security summit in Washington, D.C., agreed Tuesday that responsibility for keeping nuclear materials from getting into the hands of terrorist groups lies with all nations.

At the nuclear security summit in Washington, D.C., the leader of Egypt's delegation, Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, talks about nuclear security, Iran, Israel, and growing concerns about a new nuclear arms race in the Middle East.

With India's demand for electricity expected to more than double by the year 2015, the country is attempting to increase its reliance on nuclear energy. The NewsHour reports from India on the country's growing nuclear industry.

Since 1945 when the United States detonated the world's first atomic bomb, eight other nations have built nuclear weapons and nearly two dozen others are suspected of seeking nuclear technology. (Requires Flash)
