| Orbiting Carbon Observatory |
 |
| The Orbiting Carbon Observatory is smaller than many of NASA's other earth-observing satellites. As Aviation Week's Michael Mecham estimates, it's "about the size of a phonebooth." It will make approximately 4 million measurements each week of atmospheric carbon dioxide around the globe. |
