Two Decades of Hubble Repairs FLASH VERSION
On Monday, the space shuttle Atlantis lifted off on the fifth and final mission to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope. The crew will add a new camera, replace the telescope's positioning gyroscopes, and make other changes. Since Hubble's launch in 1990, four crews have shuttled up to upgrade and make repairs on the orbiting observatory.

New Solar Panel, Astronaut Kathy Thornton released a damaged solar panel array into space during the first servicing mission in 1993. The solar panels provide the telescope's power.
