Paracas Textile

Paracas textile, Paracas Necropolis, Peru, about 300-200 BC. These textile fragments would originally have been part of a larger piece of finely woven, brightly-coloured cloth found wrapped around mummified bodies in the Great Paracas Necropolis in Peru.

Originally presented as a BBC radio series and now a book published in America, "A History of the World in 100 Objects" tells the story of humanity using artifacts selected from the British Museum.
