Hurricane Sandy Sweeps Along East Coast

Haitian men cross a bridge over rushing flood waters in Port-au-Prince, Haiti a result of heavy rains from Hurricane Sandy. Hurricane Sandy barreled toward the Bahamas Thursday as a powerful category two storm, after battering Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba. NOAA scientists worry that rainfall from Hurricane Sandy will swell rivers in the United States, increasing the risk for severe flooding.
