This derelict dock was a surprising arrival, according to David Solomon, safety and risk manager for Oregon State Parks. The 7-foot tall, 66-foot long and 165-ton pier that landed on Agate Beach on June 5 is mostly wire and concrete with a Styrofoam core, making it buoyant.
