Blair: Success Possible in Mideast Talks; Military Must Remain Option With Iran
With direct talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas set to continue, Margaret Warner spoke with former U.K. Prime Minister and current Middle East envoy Tony Blair Tuesday about the meetings' prospects for success.
Blair said he agrees with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the talks could be a last chance for a negotiated two-state solution, saying:
"I can't see how if you drag this out for several more years it's going to get any better, and I can easily see how it could get a lot worse."
Blair also discussed the dilemma of a nuclear Iran, saying that world leaders had to keep the military option "on the table" to avert that possibility.
