Last week, Gwen Ifill and David Chalian discussed the very real possibility that the federal government could face a shutdown if GOP House leaders and Senate Democrats could not come to an agreement on spending. This week, David and Judy Woodruff examine why that outcome now looks significantly less likely: both sides have indicated agreement on a deal to cut $4 billion from spending in a two-week extension.
In Madison, Wisc., pro-union protests continue. David and Judy look at the possibility that some Republican state senators in the conflict may be willing to compromise.
