Shields and Brooks on Hawaii Caucuses, March Madness, Obama the Sports Fan

By: Christina Bellantoni

In this week's Doubleheader with with syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks, we have both a guest host (filling in for Hari Sreenivasan) and a disagreement over The New York Mets.

David wrote a column Friday detailing his lifelong fandom. In our politics of sports section, Mark had some, shall we say, impolite things to say about New York's other team.

We also predicted the outcome of the much-coveted political assignment of covering Hawaii's Republican caucuses on Tuesday and discussed the top 25 NCAA rankings as we prepare for Selection Sunday.

For our sport of politics section, we discussed whether President Obama chooses North Carolina teams for his Final Four because it's a swing state. The guys give him the benefit of the doubt because he knows his stuff. I've long been interested in the president's obsession with sports and remain a bit more skeptical.

Justin Scuiletti shot and edited this video.
