Former President Jimmy Carter says recent liver surgery revealed cancer

Former President Jimmy Carter announced today that a liver surgery has revealed the presence of cancer.

“Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that is now in other parts of my body,” said Mr. Carter in a statement. “I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare.”

Last week, The Carter Center in Atlanta said that the 90-year old statesman had undergone surgery at Emory University Hospital to remove a small mass in his liver.
