Low Wages and High Turnover
It's a classic problem for any corporation, but it's especially
true in the fast food industry: profitability requires getting the
most out of workers while paying them as little as possible. Burger
King seeks to increase the number of its restaurants in England,
thus creating thousands of new jobs. But with such low wages, will
Burger King employees want to stick around? In addition to addressing
the high turnover in the fast-food business, the Burger King corporation
is concerned with stiff competition and other threats to the bottom
line. The corporation doesn't seem too bothered, however, about
complaints from workers about long hours and uncomfortably hot working
conditions.
