Orellana and the Amazon

Should the Amazon Rainforest be saved or should the countries involved be able to use and develop it in any way they wish?

The Amazon Rainforest provides many important benefits to the world. Cutting down the Rainforest offers the countries involved the chance to sell valuable resources to help its people and reduce national debt.

There are many reasons to save the rainforest but one of the most important ones is the medicines you get from plants. You can get a lot of cures for bad diseases from plants only found in the rainforest. Two drugs found in plants from a rainforest have helped save 8 out of 10 kids from dying of Leukemia. We are lucky we discovered this plant before it was completely extinct. I wonder what other rare plants that are no longer there could have helped cure other diseases. Experts have found over 3,000 plants that are active against cancer cells and 70% are found only in rainforests. If the rainforest is destroyed maybe we will also destroy the cure for Cancer and Aids. Save the rainforest and save lives!
