I N T R O D U C T I O N

The Abamedia archive is not a traditional archival collection, but rather a contemporary collection of transcripts and images resulting from documentary work in and about Russia.

Abamedia is the parent company of Russian Archives Online and thus felt it would be beneficial to researchers and students of Russian history to be able to have access to materials collected on various subjects. Due to the nature of documentary filmmaking, many important relevations and recollections concerning life in the Soviet Union do not make it into the final film or television program. We have had transcripts of interviews assembled (and translated into English if necessary) of various Russian and Western individuals who either relate first-hand experiences or provide knowledgable commentary concerning the Soviet Union. This collection will continue to grow as more Russian-orientated documentaries are created.
