The 2.6 m reflector named after acad. G.A.Shajn is the largest optical telescope in Ukraine. The telescope was built in 1961 by the Leningrad optical-mechanical firm (LOMO). It is a universal instrument for astrophysical researches: observations are being implemented in primary, Nasmyth, Cassegrain and coude focuses. Main fields of the researches are non-stationary processes and magnetism of stars and stellar systems connected with powerful energy releases, and evolution of chemical composition of cosmic bodies.
