America at a Crossroads is a major public television event that premiered on PBS in April 2007.
This ongoing series explores the challenges confronting the post-9/11 world — including the war on terrorism; the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; the experience of American troops serving abroad; the struggle for balance within the Muslim world; and global perspectives on America’s role overseas.
The initial series of 11 independently produced documentaries premiered on Sunday, April 15, 2007 and aired nightly through Friday, April 20. Robert MacNeil hosted this premiere series, providing opening and closing comments.
Three additional films premiered over the summer of 2007. These films covered topics of an Army reserve unit deployment in Afghanistan; anti-American sentiments in Europe; and America’s role in global stability.
The next film will be broadcast on May 11, 2008.
