For many years Ian Harris has run N. Bloom & Son Ltd., the London-based jewelers and silver dealers. In his youth he received a thorough grounding in English antique silver, old Sheffield and Victorian plate, as well as carriage clocks and bronzes. In the 1960s, the firm diversified into old jewelry, which has now become its major interest. Ian has written two books on silver and catalogued the collection of the Royal College of Physicians, and is a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and the City of London. He is one of the original experts of the BBC's ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, and regularly appeared on the original Going for a Song with Arthur Negus, as well as the more recent programs.
