10:45 a.m. ET At about 2:15 p.m. Tehran time, Fars news announced that the order for their release was signed and that the two men would be handed over to the Swiss Embassy at 3 p.m. Tehran time. According to CNN, which has a live blog, the government of Oman says the American hikers have been turned over to the custody of Omani officials and are on their way to the Arabian sultanate.

10:30 a.m., 30 Shahrivar/September 21 A source tells Tehran Bureau that the two U.S. hikers Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer left Evin half an hour ago and were en route to Mehrabad airport.
