The First Novel I Read
When I was 8 years old my mother gave me money for a book fair at my elementary school and instructed me to buy "Little Women." I bought a copy of the book with old-fashioned color illustations, and by the time we moved to NY and I was 9 I had already read the book. It was the first novel I read. I always have loved this book, also, and still have this very copy of this book at home, and I am now in my 50s. I particularly like the portrayal of Marmee. She is such a wise mother. Perhaps this book launched me, as well, on a life of being somewhat nerdy? I never thought of it that way! I still enjoy reading novels and haunt the local library in search of the best.
