Stories of Berga What Would You Do? Timeline & Maps Berga and Beyond War Crimes
Berga: Soldiers of Another War is the story of American G.I.s who worked as slave laborers in Berga am Elster, a satellite concentration camp of the notorious Nazi death camp Buchenwald. -- Captured by German forces during the 1944 Battle of the Bulge, these soldiers had been singled out as suspected Jews. During the three months of their captivity, one-third of them would die from malnutrition, disease, and physical abuse. Once liberated by Allied troops in 1945, their story was largely forgotten.
