Of all Turrell's installations, none is more impressive than his still-in-progress Roden Crater project located in an enormous dormant volcano in northern Arizona's Painted Desert. Mind-boggling in its ambitious scope, the crater is an archeo-astrological monument with tunnels that line up with celestial events. Scheduled for completion some time in 2003, after more than 25 years in the making, Roden Crater will be the largest land sculpture in the world. "My work is not about my seeing, it's about your seeing." Like all of Turrell's works, Roden Crater will change not only the way we see, but the way we look, too.
