In 1987, toy manufacturer Fisher-Price was betting that kids would go wild over the PXL-2000 -- a new, plastic camera for kids -- and that they would become mini-Premingers, Spielbergs and Scorceses. Fisher-Price bet wrong. While kids didn't go for the camera, independent filmmakers did.
