Reconciling composer Tan Dun's Chinese and Western musical influences is his belief that "anything in life can be an instrument." His compositions weave the sounds of tearing paper, rocks, electric drills and dripping water with his own voice and unconventionally played Western and Chinese instruments. We visit with him at the Saratoga Chamber Music Festival as he challenges his musicians to make music in a whole new way.
