August Wilson's play, "Jitney," set in a Pittsburgh gypsy cab station in 1977, has been running since April 2001 in New York City to packed houses. "King Hedley II," Wilson's eighth in the series, tells the story of redemption and struggle during the crime-ridden 1980s. Working closely with his director and actors, Wilson uses the language of the street, spins poetry from the dreams and hopes of his characters, and explores a century in the lives of African Americans.
