As he gets older, Liev Schreiber says that he has begun to enjoy rehearsing more than performing. "In rehearsal, the process of searching, of finding character, is much more exciting than playing character." Trying on different attitudes and emotional states in a consequence-free environment, the hunt for a character is a kind of game of mix and match. In addition to his role as Iago, Schreiber has fleshed out the characters in William Shakespeare's plays "Macbeth," "Hamlet," "Cymbeline," and "The Tempest."
