Wooden synagogue, Przedborz, Poland, built c. 1760.
(Zaklad Architektury Polskiej)

The Jewish communities of Poland congregated in hundreds of local synagogues. Men were expected to attend prayers daily, while women, who had their own section with individually purchased private seats, attended less frequently but were expected to go on the Sabbath and on holidays. In addition to prayer, the synagogue was also a place for community announcements and the collection of charity.
