The Jews were closed in to the ghetto as a means to prevent competition with Christians but it didn’t keep the Renaissance from have it’s effect on Jewish culture within the ghetto.

The more tolerant Amsterdam became the new home for many of the Jews who were expelled from Spain.

Polish landowners supported Jews from Germany and other European countries in developing this area. Polish Jewry quickly became one of the biggest Jewish communities in Europe.
