Young Jews from Russia and Eastern Europe were among the first to come to Palestine. They were following the teachings of the new Zionist movement and worked to create a new Jewish society in the ancient land of Israel.

After many years of building and developing the land the Jews in Israel finally had their hopes realized. On the last day of the British mandate, the temporary Israeli government declared it’s independence.

Now that the Jewish state existed it worked on making it a home for all Jews all over the world. Israel now brought together traditions and cultures from all over the world to create a new Israeli society.

With all the diversity within Israeli society, most Israelis are still struggling with the same issues of being part of one Jewish nation.
