Film Viewing Tips
The film's complexity and length lend themselves to segmented viewing of 20-30 minutes, followed by opportunities for students to test their comprehension of key points. Students can also just review film segments related to specific lesson plans. (Each lesson plan notes film sections students should view and offers relevant discussion questions.) Students should see the film's opening, which will ground them in all relevant concepts of each lesson plan. Should a different viewing option be selected, the General Viewing Questions can be used to guide discussion of key points.
Teaching Controversial Subject Matter
The film presents not only disturbing images, but also complex concepts with which students may or may not agree. Tips for Teaching Controversial Issues can guide discussion of the film's difficult topics.
