Michael Hayden

In this STAGE ON SCREEN production of "Far East," Michael Hayden reprises the role he played in the work's successful run at Lincoln Center Theater. His portrayal of Billy Bigelow in the 1993 London revival of "Carousel" earned him critical acclaim; a year later, he made his Broadway debut as the same character in the Lincoln Center production of the musical, a role for which he received the Theatre World Award. In 1999, he starred in the Broadway cast of "Cabaret." That year he also made his film debut in CHARMING BILLY.
Mr. Hayden made his television debut in the 1995 made-for-TV movie IN THE NAME OF LOVE: A TEXAS TRAGEDY, in which he starred opposite Richard Crenna and Laura Leighton. He went on to join the cast of the daytime drama ANOTHER WORLD and later the prime-time MURDER ONE. A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mr. Hayden attended St. John's University in New York and earned a master's degree in acting from The Juilliard School.
He is currently starring opposite Maximillian Schell and George Grizzard as Oscar Rolfe in the Broadway revival of "Judgement at Nuremberg" at the Longacre Theater.
Lisa Emery

Lisa Emery, who also played Julia Anderson in the Lincoln Center Theater production of "Far East," has appeared on Broadway in "Present Laughter," "Burn This," "Rumors," and "Passion." Off-Broadway, Ms. Emery took the stage for productions of the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Dinner with Friends," the Obie-winning "Curtains," "The Monogamist," "Watbanaland," "The Matchmaker," "Talley and Son," and "Marvin's Room," for which she earned a Drama Desk nomination.
The actress was also featured in major motion pictures including MAP OF THE WORLD, with Sigourney Weaver and Julianne Moore; IN AND OUT, with Kevin Kline and Joan Cusack, and WOLF, with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer. Her television credits include guest starring roles on NBC's LAW AND ORDER, ABC's CLASS OF '96 and the soap operas ONE LIFE TO LIVE and AS THE WORLD TURNS. She is a native of Pittsburgh.
Bill Smitrovich

Bill Smitrovich is a prolific performer in stage, television, and film projects. In STAGE ON SCREEN: Far East, he returns to the role he played in the Williamstown Theatre Festival and Lincoln Center Theater productions of the work.
Well-known for his portrayal of Drew Thacher on ABC's LIFE GOES ON, Mr. Smitrovich also starred in the Fox series MILLENNIUM, Michael Mann's police drama CRIME STORY, and the NBC mini-series THE 60S. He was a member of the cast of the live CBS presentation of FAIL SAFE, along with George Clooney, Richard Dreyfuss, Harvey Keitel, Don Cheadle, Brian Dennehy, and James Cromwell. Feature film credits include THIRTEEN DAYS, GHOSTS OF MISSISSIPPI, THE TRIGGER EFFECT, AIR FORCE ONE, INDEPENDENCE DAY, SPLASH, HER ALIBI, and CRAZY PEOPLE.
Mr. Smitrovich has appeared in a long list of stage productions, from "The Skin of Our Teeth" at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and "Food from Trash" at the Actors Theater of Louisville to "Requiem for a Heavyweight" at the Long Wharf Theatre and "Frankie & Johnny" at the West Side Arts Theatre. He was a founding member of the renowned No Theatre Company, now associated with the Wooster Group, and made his acting debut in "American Clock," directed by Daniel Sullivan.
In 1993, Mr. Smitrovich won the Michael Landon Humanitarian Award for his work with the Down Syndrome Congress. He holds degrees from the University of Bridgeport and Smith College. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
Connor Trinneer

A veteran television actor, Connor Trinneer has appeared on a long list of hit programs including GIDEON'S CROSSING, MELROSE PLACE, TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL, ER, SLIDERS, and ONE LIFE TO LIVE. He played the role of Bob Munger in the Lincoln Center Theater stage version of "Far East." On Broadway, he played Vince in Gary Sinise's "Buried Child." Off-Broadway and in regional theater, Mr. Trinneer's credits include several Shakespeare productions for the Missouri Repertory Conservatory and the Utah Shakespeare Festival; "Arcadia" for London's Circle X Theatre Company; and "Picnic" for the New Harmony Theatre at the University of Southern Indiana.
Mr. Trinneer holds a bachelor's degree in acting from Pacific Lutheran University and a master's degree in acting and directing from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Miou

FAR EAST marks the American television debut of singer actress Miou, whose recorded single "Spy Game" topped the disco charts in her native Japan for three consecutive months. Miou has appeared in numerous films, including NEW ROSE HOTEL, directed by Abel Ferrara, and ONCE IN A LIFE, directed by Laurence Fishburne. She starred as the title character in the Fuji TV (Japanese) production MATAHARI STORY, and was a regular dancer on that network's YORUNO-HIT-STUDIO-DELUXE. She is a trained martial artist and an expert flamenco and jazz dancer. Miou studied with Terry Schreiber and Phil Gushee, and with the Ed Kovens Professional Workshop.
