Casey Childs
Producer

The Emmy-winning Casey Childs founded and serves as artistic director of the acclaimed New York theater company Primary Stages. Since establishing the company in 1983, he has produced more than 85 works by writers including Romulus Linney, Mac Wellman, Willy Holtzman, and Conor McPherson. Most recently, he brought to the stage "When They Speak of Rita," by Daisy Foote, "St. Nicholas," and "This Lime Tree Blower," both by Mr. McPherson. He also produced presentations of Lanie Robertson's "Nasty Little Secrets," Keith Reddin's "Brutality of Fact," David Hill's "In September Woods," and William S. Leavengood's "The Preservation of Society." In 1995, he won the Carnegie-Mellon Commitment to Playwriting Award.

Mr. Childs spent 14 years as a television director, working on the daytime dramas AS THE WORLD TURNS, THE CITY, LOVING, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ALL MY CHILDREN, and ANOTHER WORLD. He won an Emmy Award for his work in this field, and was nominated five times.

A graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, Mr. Childs also holds an M.F.A. in directing. He has lectured on theater and television at New York University, Columbia University, Yale University, Ithaca College, Carnegie-Mellon, the University of California at San Diego, and the American University in Cairo.
