"I'd rather walk!" by Stacey L., New York |

I hardly ever take taxis for two reasons: one because I cant afford them
and two because of the incidents below:
One time my taxi driver got into a car accident while I was the
passenger. He was not paying attention and hit another car because he
ran through a yellow light causing another car in back of us to hit us.
My neck hurt but I was more just shaken up. I left the scene because I
was going to be late to an important interview.
The other time was getting a REALLY sleazy driver. He was asking me all
sorts of personal things about my sex life and when I tried to deter
from the conversation, he would tell me about his arranged marriage and
how his wife is a virgin. Then asked if I was and if he could do
anything to make is less hurtful to his new wife. I was so disgusted
that I was just silent the remainder of the trip. At the end of the
ride that felt like forever, he asked me to buy the CD that was playing
in the car because he is trying to make money to send to his country. I
just slammed the door. I should have got his name and reported him but
I was just happy to be alive and at the correct destination!
Aye yay yay! I try my hardest to walk everywhere or take the subway
now!
