"The Full Tour" by A Gal from Texas |
 |
|
 |
 |

I was a young Texas gal in New York City on business. I hailed a cab outside
my hotel-- when he heard my Southern drawl, he was intrigued, and asked if I
had seen 'the Lady' yet. Once I figured out what he was talking about, I told
him "No, I had not had time to do so, or to see much of anything else since
my arrival in the city." So off we went, to see 'the Lady' on our way to the
World Trade Center. What a beautiful sight! What a thoughtful cab driver!
Much to my surprise the next morning when I stepped out the door of my hotel,
there was my 'Cabbie friend'' waiting to take me to my office....taking
another route to show me something else I hadn't had time to see...once thru
Harlem, once alongside Central Park, and so on for the next 4 days! 20 years
has passed and the thoughtfullness of that cab driver is still a vivid, warm
memory...along with the sights of his beautiful New York City.
