1. What was your reaction when you first learned you had been chosen to be a Viking?
My first reaction to being chosen was "Why me?" I had never even been near a TV camera before and I was quite nervous about what I might be asked to do. But as I am known for giving anything a go, I thought, "Yes, this is going to be an experience, so get stuck in!"
2. What do you believe was your biggest triumph as a Viking?
My biggest triumph as a Viking would have to be the wrestling. I managed to beat everyone and "broke" one of the American servicemen. Sorry about that! My size did help, but they probably won't show all the matches. Oh, and the cooking -- watch out for the tips!
3. What was your lowest moment as a Viking?
Lowest moment . . . probably the raid on the village. We had worked out all our tactics and it all fell apart because of the color of a blanket. Sometimes people are overtaken by adrenaline and that's what happened, but it was not good.
4. Overall, how would you rate your performance as a Viking?
I would like to think I took an active part and acted as a team member while being able to be an individual when the need arose. So, overall, I think I passed the challenge.
5. If you had to choose between daily life as a police officer or as a Viking, which would you choose?
Well, with all the violence and crime today, at times I think the Vikings probably had the best idea -- no laws, take what you want and go home eventually. Sounds great but I am sure life wasn't so great when the cold winter months set in. So I think I'll stay put as a cop and deal with the modern-day Viking wannabes.
6. Has your experience as a Viking affected or changed any aspect of your career as a police officer?
There seem to be modern day Vikings in today's society. For all our technological advances in the past thousand years, some things have remained the same. There are those that have and those that want and sometimes those that want will take what they want regardless of the risk.
7. Did your experience as a Viking live up to your expectations? I did not really know what to expect and I would say the experience was nothing like I have ever done before. I met some great people and had a fantastic time. I would do it again!
