World Links: The Pope Arrives in Israel, Roxana Saberi is Freed

Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi is freed after an appeals court rejects her original eight-year jail term and issues a suspended two-year sentence in its place.

Arriving in Israel on his first visit to the Middle East as pope, Benedict XVI expresses support for a two-state solution and speaks out against anti-Semitism, calling it “totally unacceptable.”

The United Nations calls situation in Sri Lanka a “bloodbath” after as many as 1,000 civilians are killed during the shelling of a Tamil Tigers stronghold this weekend.

President Obama chooses Egypt as the place to deliver his promised adress to the Muslim world.
