Good morning and greetings to all the quilters who have told their story before me. I hope you find my tale interesting. I am not a true quilter. I am not even a novice quilter. I am an imposter. I have watch more quilt shows in the last year than every before and I was craving to learn how to quilt. But there were no classes offered by me and every person I know (from the women at the local fabric store), that does quilt doesn't want to teach me or show me any technics. I went to the library and enjoyed looking at the quilts but my attempts seemed off. The end results were not pretty and definately not quilts by any standard that I had seen on TV.

Then, last 4th of July, I decided to make myself a blanket to sit on at the fireworks show. I bought way too much material and after the first blanket of just strips running up and down, I backed it up with batting and other material. It wasn't bad to look at, but I had cut off a large portion of the blanket/material that hung out of the edges. I used that extra that I cut off and the rest of the scraps and cut out differnet sizes shapes and lengths to made a different shapes to make a second blanket that looked more like a quilt. I was very excited. But I had worked with strips that were as large as 4 feet long and 2 1/2 feet wide. It was not easy (but still fun).

I want to learn to quilt from the very beginning. learning needles stitches, shapes, how to cut correctly, what batting it right.... you know, I want to learn everything you quilters already have learned and I want to work with a group of women while I am working. Do you have any suggestions for me ( other than to stop whining and keep searching for help). I would be very grateful. Write anytime. I am in the Glenview, Illinois neighborhood. Hope to hear from you soon.
