Published on October 02, 2025 by PBS

Google users rejoice! There is now a way to customize your Google search results to see more content from PBS and your favorite shows like "PBS News Hour", "All Creatures Great and Small", "NOVA" and more. The best part? It takes less than a minute to make this change.

How to Add PBS as a Preferred Source

We’ve created a shortcut to make it as easy as possible to add PBS as a preferred source. Simply click on this link and click the checkbox next to PBS.

After clicking the checkbox, there's no need to save or do anything else; you can just close the tab. And there's no need to search for "PBS News Hour", Masterpiece or your favorite PBS shows; everything is included by selecting “PBS” from the list. We also recommend choosing PBS KIDS as a preferred source for information about new shows for the whole family!

Make Your Local Station a Preferred Source

Want to see more content from your community in addition to great content from PBS? You can also add your local PBS station as a preferred source in Google to see articles and news stories from your community.

To add your local PBS station as a preferred source simply click this link, search your PBS station's name and select the checkbox.

How to Follow PBS on Google News

If you want to take things a step further, be sure to follow PBS on Google News! Following PBS on Google News will customize your news feed to prioritize results from PBS.

To do this, click on this link, then click "Follow" beneath the PBS logo in the top right corner of the window.

What are “preferred sources” on Google?

In August, Google released a new feature called “Preferred Sources,” which allows users to select their favorite websites they want to see more content from. Once you have selected a preferred source, Google will prioritize results from that source in the “Top stories” feature you may see in some search results.

Additionally, you may see a new feature in some search results called “From your sources,” which collects articles from your favorite websites all in one convenient place.
