1550 BC - Ahmose comes to power
Ahmose defeats the Hyksos and becomes pharaoh of a united Egypt. He then heads south with his army and defeats the Nubians, taking control of their gold.

ca. 1550-1525 BC - Ahmose rebuilds Karnak
The Temple of Karnak is completed - Egypt's holiest site. It is extended and rebuilt in honor of the god Amen.

1525 BC - Ahmose dies
By his death, Ahmose pushes Egypt's borders beyond the Sinai desert in the north-east and deep into Nubia in the south.
