Academy Award-winning actor, director, and producer Robert De Niro lends his voice as narrator of Hans Hofmann: Artist/Teacher, Teacher/Artist to pay homage to his parents, Virginia Admiral and Robert De Niro, Sr. (pictured left), who met while attending Hofmann’s famous summer art courses at the Provincetown school in 1931.
Although he would have probably never claimed favorites, it is rumored that Hofmann regarded Robert De Niro, Sr. as one of his most talented students.
Robert De Niro, Jr. continues to live and work in downtown Manhattan, just a few blocks away from the neighborhood where he grew up. The first of his many successful restaurants, Tribeca Grill, is decorated with paintings by his father.
