WATCH LIVE: Utah's U.S. House candidates Maloy, Udell meet for midterm debate

Utah's Republican Rep. Celeste Maloy will face off in a debate Friday against Democratic candidate Kent Udell as voters consider whom to send to the U.S. House.

The debate begins at 8 p.m. EDT. Watch live from the Utah Debate Commission and PBS Utah in the video player above.

Maloy, who has represented Utah's 2nd Congressional District since 2023, is now running in the 3rd Congressional District after mid-decade redistricting. Maloy defeated former state Rep. Phil Lyman in the state's June primary after both candidates failed to secure enough votes at the state GOP convention to win the party's nomination outright.

Udell, a retired mechanical engineering professor at the University of Utah, ran uncontested in the Democratic primary.

The district stretches across all of southern Utah and most of the eastern part of the state, and it includes Provo, home of Brigham Young University, and St. George, where Friday's debate is scheduled to take place.

The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter rates the race as a "Solid R."
