And that name is growing to a wider public; last year, Moran was awarded a MacArthur genius fellowship, and he was recently made the artistic adviser for jazz at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., a position held for many years by the great jazz musician and educator Billy Taylor.
