A plan to put identifying stone markers at some of the capitol’s most iconic monuments has been rejected by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. * Theatrical adaptations of well-known art house films are in the works (and even Broadway-bound). Lincoln Center announced a musical version of Pedro Almodovar’s ‘Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown’ is slated to open next fall. Earlier this month, Duncan Sheik (the Tony award-winning composer of “Spring Awakening”) signed on to work on a singing and dancing version of ‘American Psycho’, a satire of the 1980s about a serial-killer banker, based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel that became a 2000 film starring Christian Bale. * Kathryn Grayson, a star of musicals made into movies (“Kiss Me Kate,” “Show Boat,” “Anchors Aweigh”) died at her home on Wednesday at the age of 88.
