It’s time for another Tuesday Cutline, a contest in which you come up with a caption to a photo.

Christmas cards mailed? Check. Gifts purchased? Almost. Wrapping paper and scotch tape? Uh-oh. Line at post office? Ugh. Christmas next Tuesday!? Oh dear. From the looks of the photo above we might not be alone in our last-minute holiday preparations. So what’s Santa doing in the toy department above? Shopping? Scouting for new ideas? And why aren’t there hordes of people with him?

The author of our favorite creative caption submitted by you will receive a NewsHour mug. In time for Christmas? Not a chance.

We’ll be off next Tuesday and on Jan. 1, so we’re tweaking our deadline and the date of the winner’s announcement. See below.

How it works: Every other Tuesday, we post a photo. You compose a caption, submit it in the comments section below or on the NewsHour’s or Art Beat’s Facebook pages by 5 p.m. ET Friday, Dec. 28.

We’ll announce the best caption on Art Beat the following Wednesday, Jan. 2, and send the creative genius an official NewsHour mug. The tiebreaker for similar or identical entries will be earliest time of submission.
