Arts Feb 12, 2013 11:48 AM EST Were you waiting to find out what statement this giant porcelain throne was trying to make? Was it just another fixture to compete against the big lights of Times Square? Or did its meaning go deeper? Before we announce last week’s winner, here’s the story behind the photo by Emmanuel Dunand/AFP/Getty Images: “Workers set up a giant toilette as part of a promotional campaign for a diaper company on Times Square, in New York.” There you have it. A couple of you noticed the purple handlebars on the toilet seat that are commonly used for “potty-training” (well done!), and several implied that a giant toilet might be a likely solution to America’s obesity problem. But our favorite touched upon one of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s more recent announcements. Congrats to Joseph Dirac for your winning caption: “The Big Apple, now with smaller sodas but bigger toilets!” Thank you all for playing along. Join us next week for another Tuesday Cutline. About the Tuesday Cutline: Every other Tuesday, we post a photo. You compose a witty/funny/creative caption, submit it by Friday at 5 p.m. ET in the comments section or on the NewsHour’s or Art Beat’s pages. The following Tuesday we pick one winner.
