He’s currently on tour with his latest endeavor, an ambitious album and documentary called “The Imagine Project,” which was recorded in seven countries with more than 60 artists. The idea, Hancock says, is to use music to make people think about globalization in a new way. The songs all reflect themes of peace and global responsibility. Hancock chose artists from several genres of music, including Anoushka Shankar from India, Juanes from Colombia and the Chieftains from Ireland. On Thursday’s Newshour Jeffrey Brown talked to Hancock about the project: Hancock recently performed with several of the musicians at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Here’s an excerpt of the song “Space Captain” performed with Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.
